Booka Shade- Sweet Lies [Video recently reviewed on GBH.]

I love Booka Shade.  Nick Hook introduced me to the german electro duo during one of the classic late night Satsko Sake Bar parties, and ‘husband’ got me into them anymore (he knows his electro).

I love the concept of this video… the cop car driving around Brooklyn/Lower Manhattan shining a spotlight on the many fucked up things that happen at night while most people are out having good time.  Guys getting rejected by girls, girls lying to their boyfriends about where they are, people fucking in public, bouncers rejecting people at clubs/bars, drug deals, etc. and so forth.  The dialogue layed over the mellow beats adds so much, by giving a better glimpse into each scene.

It’s Gritty.  It’s NY.  It’s Life.
