sarazucker:

as i partied last night, bianca pulled me into a small boutique next to the dressing room, where i introduced myself to the owner, robert james (shown in my favorite of his designs, the gingham plaid washington). it must’ve been around 11pm, but i perused his pieces and discussed independent design. purely menswear, you can sense civil war and homegrown western-american inspirations.
there are plans of an e-shop, but if you’re around the lower east side, stop by his storefront (75 orchard street). his line includes screenprinted t-shirts, jackets, button-downs, vests, and fitted pants.

It was 11 PM and his store was still open, which I was a bit curious about so I sauntered in.  I ended up falling in love with his dog Lola, who had the most badass studded collar ever, and so I sat in the store and played with Lola and kept Robert James company as he was waiting for his friend to meet him.  Actually, now that I think about it, I dragged Sara in so she could meet the dog…
I do have to say, however I was impressed with Robert James’s clothing line.  He had some great t-shirts and wovens.  Despite the fact that he only did menswear, I could definitely wear his woven button downs as dresses, and rock his jackets and vests.
