In Wired’s April 08 issue, “Wired’s Geekster Handbook, a Field Guide to the Nerd Underground” caught my attention. As I’m reading through them, I realize that I’m not quite sure where I fit in…

Although I see a lot of shows and listen to a lot of music, I would never place myself into the music geek category (maybe more of a band aid). I do love my gadgets but I am not a gadget nerd (maybe more of a shopaholic who loves buying anything…including gadgets). Definitely not a hacker, or Otaku… and only a slight fangirl (I contemplated going to the Comic Book convention this past weekend… I am truly obsessed with batman, and moreso Poison Ivy…she’s my hero).
Of course there are numerous other nerds that weren’t type-casted by that Wired article…. And this is my addendum, to follow suit of the Wired Geekster Handbook:
The Fashion Nerd

Disposition:At first glance one would not ever assume the fashion nerd is a nerd at all. Draws inspiration from the street, art, music, and of course the runway (displayed as personal style in a way that not many can pull off, but most can appreciate). Follows fashion blogs, community sites, and magazines incessantly both for informational purposes and to critique the critiques of others in the fashion realm. Slightly (or extremely) narcissistic. Usually with camera in tow to snap what they are currently wearing, street style, & inspirations- sharing with all, via world wide web (although cleverly hiding any semblance of Internet intelligence).
Beliefs: Everyone is entitled to their own personal style, however publicly displaying said personal style gives everyone free range to rate/bash/commend your look. Love it. Want it. Need to post it.
Turn-Ons:Shoes. Style Icons. Beautifully merchandised window displays. That girl on the street who’s outfit you wished you had thought to put on before walking out the door. Fashion Blogs. Magazines. Shoes.
p.s.- above outfit = ((DKNY skirt + black tank)/illusion of an empire waist dress)*(narciso rodriquez inspired + ballerina)
++ on a side note, i just did my roomate’s excel accounting project… and I seriously got excited over a function. i LOVE excel. i’m definitely also an excel nerd. but that just brings up another category…
