Last year on November 5th my best friend’s band was in town between tours.  I made plans with the crew to hit up our usual spots… Hi-Fi for pool, Annex for High Voltage (may that venue RIP), and ending the night with some debauchery at Lit Lounge.

I did have something on that list that the guys weren’t aware would be in our plans.  This meetup was happening and I basically begged them for us to stop by for 5 minutes because ‘this boy from San Diego’ was going to be there.  Didn’t know much about him other than that he posted an amazing mashup that I reblogged and his picture looked pretty cute… so of course I wanted to see if he was in real life.

And so I strolled into Hop Devil with my entourage of a band.  Said boy was standing by the wall surrounded by some girls and as I ran around we caught each others eye. He points at me, and this exchange followed:

me: Hi, I’m Bianca.

him: I know… I’m Jacob.

I bounced over to do some shots with the boys, and I went over to say hi to David, who then started showing me his photo in the recent issue of Maxim on his iphone.  Somewhere in our conversation he says… “That’s Jacob, we just hired him.  Go talk to him.”

Um… I already DID, but I went back anyway.  Meaghan who was standing there with her signature giant hefferveisen looks up at us and says “You guys are in love.”

I looked at them both thinking “I don’t even know who you fucking people are.”

I was then dragged out of the place by the impatient musicians who wanted to rage.

… hm. Talk about not knowing what you were getting yourself into. (One year later I’m living with said boy, and coincidentally right next to Hop Devil).
