The Creators Project London: Cassete Playa

This first augmented reality fashion show.  THIS is why I wish I was going to all the Creators Project events around the world.  Casette Playa is mad cool, with past collaborations with Jeremy Scott and The Klaxons.  Any fashion label described as “creating a Tron like vision of a life lived in video games” gets a gold star from my sticker book.

Read the Creators bio and interview here.

evilteddy asked: Love the blog :) Question for you... Why is womens' fashion sooo much better, prettier, and diverse than mens'?

Good question… to which I really don’t know the answer to.  I actually do think that men’s fashion is coming around.  I find myself really liking men’s lines, trying to figure out how I can potentially wear the pieces myself.  I love wearing men’s clothing (which I made an attempt to blog about… maybe i’ll bring that back).

But perhaps that IS why women’s fashion is so much more diverse (I wouldn’t necessarily say better)… I’d sooner wear an outfit comprised entirely of my boyfriend’s clothing before he would go anywhere near mine.  That’s ok, my tutus and ruffles don’t suit him anyway.

(and P.S.- Thanks!)

Who would think to put sequins over an antique photograph print of children’s faces?  The incredible Alexander McQueen would (may he rest in peace).

This top is actually meant to be worn with the zipper on the back, but it looks so amazing as a jacket that you could really wear it either way.

We’ll be auctioning this beauty off at our 2nd Birthday Bash (July 23rd 5-9PM).  Don’t miss it!

Become a Whistleblower for Peace

We are very proud to announce that Falling Whistles are now available in the DesignerSocial Closet.  After covering the Falling Whistles installation in NYC, we were so touched by the cause behind the necklaces, that we wanted to do whatever we could to help spread the word.  This not only meant becoming whistleblowers for peace ourselves, but joining the quest in getting as many people to own Falling Whistles and become advocates for the war affected children in the Congo.

Watch our video to hear story behind Falling Whistles from founder, Sean Carasso himself, and join the ranks of celebrities and fashionistas alike who have supported the cause. 100% of the proceeds will go to rehabilitate and advocate for the freedom of these war affected children.  Buy a whistle, wear it proudly, and keep the conversation going.

It’s really exciting to have Falling Whistles available to buy in the DesignerSocial Closet. :)

Gryphon Studded Leather Tuxedo Shorts
I’m not really sure how wearing leather shorts would fare in this HOT HOT HUMID NYC WEATHER (seriously… not amused), but given the fact that I have very publicly displayed my love for shorts and anything leather, studded, or spiked… out of all the pieces that Style.com featured on their shorts mood board, of COURSE these are the ones I decide to post.
Predictable or not, they’re badass. (Totally predictable.)

The Creators Project- “It’s like, the best ever.”

The Creators Project was like Disneyland for creatives.  A 12 hour music art party with all your friends and a bunch of pretty strangers.  Lots of dancing, lots of playing, lots of interacting… with installations and with people.  Getting there early was the best decision, as Mallory and I explored the installations and panels during the day when the crowds were lighter, and then danced the night away to the amazing lineup of bands and DJs (Interpol, Mark Ronson, MIA, Gang Gang Dance…  I can’t even finish…)

Everything you could ask for in an adventure.  No, but really- look.

I wish I could go to the events in London, Sao Paulo, Seoul, and Beijing.  I want to relive that experience over and over and over again.

Well done Vice and Intel… that was one awesome party.

(My new favorite person, Danielle, puts it a little more intelligently here)

Creators Project- BEST. DAY. EVER.

BiANCA: I really like dancing. It’s the only time I can not think.

RONEN: I really like thinking. It’s the only time I can not dance.
